Alrighty, so my truck went down a week or so ago, flat tire n broke part of a injector cap,
First off I took off the wvo kit that was on there, been having troubles ever since, so I decided to get a new pump, got the trancool one. Installed it up in the engine bay, bypassed my carter one that was on there. Well, pump was pulling fuel, res was filled up about half way, but truck still ain't starting. Not even with a hit of ether. The fuel, filter head isn't the original one with the shrader valve so Not sure how to bleed that area, there is a rubber hose connecting from filter head to inlet of ip, I removed the clamp and removed hose, just air. Then the pump started clacking louder, like it needs that presure, so I figured, ill remove the res for pump fill up with fuel. Removed filter filled with fuel. Cranked some. Getting fuel at injectors all except 1 is pushing fuel out without air.
Read somewhere that with an e pump you don't need to bleed lines. Just crack open injector lines and wait, is this true? I'm thinking about putting it how it was before with other pu,p. It worked. I also bypassed tank switch and ran 2 lines, 1 fuel and 1 return since I don't have another tank for diesel anymore for now. I do get a click from fss and unless the ip died from sitting there not sure. Any insight on this? Thanks was thinking maybe a new starter, maybe I burnt this one. But it's only about 9 months old
Also when I filled up the filter with fuel and turned the key in shortly after most of the fuel I put I to the filter was gone. Only about 1/4 full of fuel in there.
The e-pump should fill itself (the filter you speak of) shortly after turning the key on. If its not filling, either the pump is broke, the fuel line is clogged, there is a hole in the line sucking air, tank is out of fuel, or tank pickup is busted/clogged.
Fix the fuel getting to the pump problem before trying to fix other possibly non-existent issues.
I'm going to go over the lines again and make sure I didn't cross them. But like I said fuel delivery worked fine before I installed pump. Should the pump have a loud clacking noise like when you first turn pump on? After reading a lot seems I need to let the pump run before connecting it to the fuel filter. This correct? Just trying to get my p and q in order before I dig I to it more. We've got snow, and it's cold, no garage. I read a lot just shooting for confirmation.

Loud clack usually means it's sucking air.
Take the outlet of the filter(or the furthest place after your pump you can), hook it up to a bit of hose and run it into a bucket. Turn the pump on. You should see a steady stream of fuel out once all the air is clear(it will be quite a bit of fuel).
If not, you're getting air in the system somewhere before your pump.
Ok sounds good. Just thought maybe it needed the pressure, maybe not sucking cause had no place for the air coming out to go. I'll diconnect the outlet into a fuel can and let her run for a bit after I check my line configuration. Thanks much.
