Hey guys!
My truck is a 1995 with the straight 6.... I just got this truck a few weeks ago, and I am working out all the kinks!
I replaced a bad fuel pump, and after it was installed...it still will not crank. I hear it come on (when the key is switched on... for a short moment), then it goes off. I removed the line in front of the fuel filter (tank side), and saw that when it is switched on.... it shoots out a stream of gas, then stops...along with the noise of the pump. ....Also, the rear tank had been removed and is not in the truck. I placed a small amount of fuel in the air intake hose, and it started and run for a second...so I know I am getting spark to the engine. As well as all good fuses, and all good connections (with a strong battery).

This is normal. It runs for a second when the key is turned on. From then on, the pump should be running whenever the engine is turning. You still have to make sure the injectors are firing.
This may not have been the correct thing to do...but I didnt have a fuel pressure tested, soI screwed off that part of the line to see if I was getting any fuel to that point...dry as a bone. What is the best way to test the injectors?? (Never worked on fuel injectors before...)
I bought a new fuel filter yesterday, and will put it on today and see if this helps.
Should the fuel pump keep pumping fuel, with the line off....since there is no pressure build up? Fuel does not seem to be making its way to the other side of the line....is it more electrical??
