I have a 2000 crew cab lwb single rear wheel 4x4 and I want to put a plow on it and ford says it is not recommended that it exceeds the gawr. The trucks an f-350 psd I see other crew cabs with plows, is it the diesel? because I've seen them too what adverse effects am I going to have? any insight to this would be great.

You could do with beefing up the front springs if you intend to hang a plow up front.

The "X" code springs from the snow plow/max gvw package are available through the dealer. The part # is 1C3Z5310AF.

The problem with plows on a PowerStroke is the weight of the engine, as was hinted at in your original post. The diesel weighs some 400 lbs more than a V-10 gas if I am not mistaken and the lino's share of that weight goes on the front axle.

That said, I have seen a few who plow with them and have no problems. Just be aware of warranty issues if you "overload" the front axle against Fords' warnings.
