Turn signals

Are the turn signals supposed to work with the key off ? The truck is a 1976 F600 361CID .

Not that I'm aware of. 4 way flashers, yes, turn signals, nope. Could be a hacked ignition switch if they do.

Ok , I sure didn't think so. I have modified the ignition though here is what I have done I'm sure I'm getting some back feed from something I just need to know where to put the dioide! I have a MSD street fire ignition and a accel points eliminator in the distributor! Where should I put the dioide? If that's the right word. Let me put it this way what wire or wires do I put the filter in so the current will just run one way?

Sorry, my friend..... I have zero knowledge of MSD, etc ignition stuff, not having played with them. DS I, DS II, HEI, points, etc...ok ,but not all this new fangled stuff. Is there any directions to help you? Diode icon is something like this -->, no? with the arrow pointing in the direction of current?

Sorry, again for the no help.......someone will be along who know this stuff, I'm sure.

Thanks Filthy Beast, I should have left it along I guess but it sure has helped the old motor pull the load, especially at low RPM where these kinds of trucks stay at, I'm sure it's pretty simple if I could just find my instruction sheet lol because MSD knew this would happen because they sent the dioide with the ignition box .

You might try posting this in the Electrical/wiring section rather then this engine section for more answers.

Is the diode for MSD or Accel? I would call or contact tech line for whichever one. I tried the Accel thing and finally put in trash and bought the Petronix unit.........Maybe you can have better luck with that setup. I tried taking the rotor off and it exploded in my hand.....guy at Accel said I should have pried it up with a screw driver.....lol. I told him I didn't want to rely on anything as fragile as a chicken egg in my distributor......

Lol very true with the accel rotor button, I have pulled it off a couple of times waiting for it to come apart! The diode came with the MSD street fire, the only thing that I wonder about is did the signals blink with the key off before I put this stuff on , and I don't mean they come on when I turn the key off ! They will work with the key off but I do have to work the turn signal arm on the steering wheel before they come on , its not like they just come on when I shut the key off !
