Ok, this is a really stupid example, but it's all I can think of. Maybe I can write this down to where you can understand what I'm thinking in my head. Imagine one of those big dust mops, like you see in grocery stores, about 3' wide with a 360 swivel at the base of handle. If you hold that handle at a 90• angle from the floor, it's going to be hard to move the dust mop smooth. Take that handle down to a 65• angle, and you can move it around real smooth. Now, add a 5lbs object in there, say a box. This represents a tire. That same 65• angle may be harder to keep smooth. If you move it down to a 45• angle, it's still going to be easy to steer that mop head. You put a lift and big oversized tires on, so put a 10lbs box down there. Your broom handle may start to flex a little, but you can still steer it, move that angle on down,(drop pitman arm) and it's still easy to steer that mop head smooth, you just have to use two hands. I think you get the point. That angle on the handle represents your draglink, and that flex in the handle represents the stress of bigger, heavier tires. This is what wears out your front end faster with the bigger tires. Using two hands represents the extra stress on your gear box/power steering pump. I'm by no means saying don't run big tires. I'm wanting lift and run 35's on my f150 soon, but I don't expect it to ride as smooth or the front end to hold up like it does with stock tires. But I do expect it to drive right, with a quality tire and proper alignment.
