Cam Problems?
My '05 Nav has developed a sound that I thought sounded like and exhaust leak. It is not there on cold start but develops as the engine hits operating temperature. I stopped by the local stealership today and the service manager told me that he thinks it is components in the Cam Timing system, probably the chain followers. Then without blinking an eye he says that they they to pull the engine to work on the back side of the engine.

Really? At 75K miles they have to pull the engine to work on cams?
Anybody have any similar experience?
Thanks in advance.
FWIW the phasers and tensioners are on the front of the motor.
Mt ticking noise on my recently new to me '05 Navigator was a spark plug had loosened itself over 150k miles. Very similar symptoms as yours, but a very simple fix.
Not to say this is your issue, but I would not go back to the stealership until you do some research and some detective work for yourself. Plenty of info in this forum on cam phasers, tensioners, broken plugs, etc. here.
The stop at the stealership was started by my wife because she wanted a "Factory" second fob and key. After $133 for the programmed fob I asked the service manager about the ticking noise and got the above response. Standing there on the service floor it was all I could do to not tell him what I really think.
Better manners did prevail but I won't soon forget that conversation.
