No cluster no start

I have an issue with my 2008 f250 6.4 where the gauge cluster is dark and truck won't crank. The only light on the dash is the airbag light. I have tried reprogamming with my Spartan tuner, checked fuses, removed aftermarket alarm, charged batteries. I scanned and got two codes. P1260 theft detected and a u code no comm with cluster. Please help!!

My guess is you will need a pcm for it. Have you checked fuses in the kick panel and the junction box under the hood?

Do you get power anywhere else?

I have checked all fuses and relays. Battery voltage is good. I have power everywhere. The cluster is dark except for the airbag light. I have seen other people post with the same issues but I haven't seen any resolution

There are so many modules in the system now that I think you will have to take it for a diagnosis.

The anti theft is concerning and I wonder if that has something to do with it.

You will need to have all keys with you if you take it in. Everything would have to be reprogrammed.

I am hoping that isn't the case. I hate any trip to the dealer. I think the pats activation has a lot to do with the communication with the cluster. All that information is routed through there. I was hoping this was an issue someone has run into before and knows an easy fix.

My 08 had some sort of anti-theft device on it. One day it wouldn't start. The Red Lock light in the dash came on. It would crank, but not start. Wiring is over my head. A friend came out and pulled the dash panel, and started cutting everything out from under that dash not relevant to operating that truck. It was a freaking mouse nest of wires! Never figured out what the problem exactly was, but it ran when he got done, and everything still works!

I had the same problem. The alarm was put in with electrical tape and zip ties. I removed the aftermarket alarm after I had this problem. The weird part is that the cluster doesn't work. I am calling the tuner company (spartan) to see if it has anything to do with that. It's driving me crazy!

Don't waste the tuner company's time, it isn't their issue.

If the cluster doesn't power up, the engine will never start as PATS is integrated into the cluster on this model.

Most likely, either the cluster isn't getting its operating power or the cluster itself has died.

Check it's power feed (and grounds) first.

Specifically, circuits SBP26, CPB36, and GD133 as per the following diagram:

If power and ground are all good, it's probably time to call forum sponsor Circuit Board Medics.
