on the starter solenoid for my 95 f150 there is a pair of red wires which i know one connect to the battery and the other to the starter, also the small ignition wire. but there are two other wires which are grey that also connect to the solenoid. what are they for and is there a fusible link?
better mechanics than i have looked in on this thread and suggested that you check the output of your new alternator, and i don't see where you have done that.
new does not necessarily mean good.
if you don't have a digital multimeter you should get one (don't bother with analogue). they pay for themselves with just 1 use (there's a decent one at crappy tire right now for 30 bucks, princess auto has one for 10 bucks), and there are plenty of good videos on youtube explaining how to test alternator output and how to check for voltage drop.
