lost electrical

New Member. 92 F 150, 4.9, 5 spd, 4x4. Driving to work this morning and every thing is fine. Stop and do 1/2 hour of fishing. Get back in, truck starts fine, turn on headlights then the defroster and all of a sudden I lose electrics and the motor just about stalls. Immediately shut off blower and power comes back up. Notice that the volt gauge is reading erractically, but truck is running fine. Shut the lights off then turn on again and the same thing happens. Get to work fine and try this scenarios again with the truck almost stalling once more but the gauge is not reading erractic this time. I suspect possible battery problems but not sure. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

You likely have a bad connection at the battery. Clean the posts and the connectors thoroughly. The other end of the battery cables can have the same problem but it's usually at the battery because that's where all the corrosion happens. It could even be a bad battery but battery post corrosion is your most likely problem.

As you pull more and more amperage from the battery, eventually the bad connection breaks down because it can't handle the load, and you get exactly what you are seeing.
