Hang in there you will get thru it. Speaking as a 40% disabled vet who at one point could not walk.
Life is full of challenges and at each turn of our life another challenge falls upon us. 7 months ago my 25 year old's heart kept stoping. After the 3rd time in a week and after being revived the 3rd time...it turns out he had a 2" mass in his lung pressing against his heart. Thru the grace of God and support of everyone we know, 7 months later he's cured of lung cancer and back to his usual self.
We wiped out our savings covering all the bills and we're were ready to start bouncing back.
hang in there lawdawg, hopefully you have a good lawyer. I sympathize with you, I just settled my work comp case that started 7 years ago. I still haven't had surgery yet but they made me retire and will take care of me for many years now along with re-training.
I had to fight them on every single issue. the biggest thing is to stay positive, do your homework on local and state laws pending to your case and fight them with tooth and nail. it sounds like you should have a good lawsuit against your department for failing to pay into workers comp.
yea RF IS no fun at all!!!! don't let the pills get you down
prayers sent and merry christmas
Id love to sue the dept, but cant get blood out of a turnip.....i had payroll checks bounce, so ya lol.....i honestly dont think i could have a better team of lawyers than i do. But now its all up to a judge to decide. The waiting is making me grow gray hairs lol.
What sucks is I wanna move to Texas, but because of medical bills my credit is so shot I couldn't get a bag of dirt on credit. I have no family here anymore, everyone is in Texas. The only way im gonna be able to get moved down there is if i win, cuz im not moving in with my parents. I will just stay here first.
Holy crap dude. I'm a Sgt on my PD (about 800 sworn) and have been on the street for 29 years. Your story was the same as mine many years ago right up until you were ejected! and sustained the lasting injuries you have. My biggest scare was when they were cutting me out of the car and calling for the chaplains.. It amazes me the county has gotten away with by-passing worker's comp for so long. Hopefully, the judge will rise to the occasion and get you what you deserve. Keeping the prayers going your way.
I stayed in the fight even after my ejection, still got up and helped take the bad guys down, blood comin out of my ears from concussion and all. But I disengaged as soon as assistance got there, which was fast cuz my partner called officer down. The doctors at the hospital didnt know how i was able to get up and do that. I dont either, i wss hurtin bad but it was just me and my partner in the pursuing car, i wasnt gonna leave him to deal w a car full of bad guys by himself.
Has the FOP helped you out any lawdawg? I know them and every other organization calls me for donations all the time. But I know that some of those are scams or only contribute a very small percentage to the actual cause.
Sounds like that town needs a new Police Chief named LawDawg. You said can't get blood from a turnip. But you can get the turnip. God Bless you man!
The department isnt a member of the FOP. FOP is great, but the department could never meet the demands of the fop, insurance, pay, benefits. I never planned to be at this department for 3 years, i was set to test for a better dept in Nov 13' but couldnt test because i was hurt. I was pretty much a shoe in for the other dept, 50k + a yr start with fop protection. But i missed my window, then pretty much just got stuck there.
