Brake job!

This is how I do it.

New calipers, rotors and some EBC Yellowstuff pads. And a little corrosion mitigation (paint).

Also clean and adjust the e-brakes!!

Nice! How much better are the EBC's on these trucks than OE?

A LOT better. There is no better pad for stopping power. You've got to go to big buck 8-piston calipers, etc if you want to stop faster. And, unlike parts-store pads - these don't warp rotors.

I just use lifetime warranty rotors. No need for any of that x-drilled, slotted or otherwise molested stuff...

I wish I would of done the EBC. My rotors from new last year are warped already.

Looks GREAT, Jason. Should have painted them red, though!

I just did rotors and pads with conventional pads. It's not too late to get a different pad, but the weather will be miserable. You're saying the semi-metallic pads will warp my rotors? Even if I maintain the slide pins?

Nice work on the calipers - I went for BBQ black.

You will experience noticeably better stopping power (the truck slows down with less pedal effort) and significantly reduce the chances of warping. I have not warped a rotor since I started using these pads a few years ago. I tow heavy often and I live in the mountains - so I USE my brakes. The EBC pads also have a 'break-in coating' that is like a layer of sandpaper that conditions your old rotors for better performance.

All of this will be black after awhile, but it won't RUST and it sure looks good for a little while! This is on an F450 I'm building for a customer that is basically getting all new everything (rebuilt engine with hybrids, T4 turbo, etc, rebuilt ZF6 with dual-disc clutch, new pinion seal in the rear axle and axle seals in the front axle and so on). With all of the money being invested in this, it is important to me that it looks good!

I'm getting set up to do powder coating now. Soon, everything I take off a truck will get powder!!! Starting with everything that is going on the 'new' engine. I've wanted this technology for a loooong time and I'm pretty dang excited about it!!!

Where are you sourcing these Pads??
Clay carries them.

How much life are you getting out of these? I too tow heavy and do a ton of stop and go traffic- and i've resorted to using entry level or entry level + pads (dusty, but don't warp rotors) and I seem to get 15-20k miles out of them. I used to use Napa Fleet grade pads, but at $90 a set, I can buy 4 sets of the entry level pads, and get more miles out of them and avoid warping rotors. But if the EBC pads have good mileage life expectancy, I'd be willing to give them a shot.

So, just to clarify a bit if you would Jason-You don't have to go with the 8 piston calipers, you will see a noticeable improvement by just changing to these pads?

I'd like to know about thte life in these pads also. I know it's an estimate but still would like your opinion.

I've been getting 50-70k miles out of them on the front of my truck and Excursion I'd have to look up mileage, but longer on the rears.

They are dusty, but I think still less than OE pads.

Yes, these pads offer a noticeably better braking experience. There is a break-in period (follow directions) and sometimes they squeal during that time - but they will outstop a set of parts store pads by a long shot.

I tried a couple different pads on the Excursion when ex-wife was commuting over the mountain for school. Pads and rotors were toast every 20k miles until switching to EBC pads.
