Does anyone have (that they are willing to part with) or know where I can get an instrument cluster that reads both the miles and kilometres as I need one of these with the kilometres on it in order to get it registered in Australia.
I would look on eBay's USA site for that cluster. Along with good used parts there might be a few vendors with refurbished clusters too---not the cheapest route but would be fully functional and tested before it arrives to you.

here in Ontario Canada the km/h started showing up in 78 F series trucks, same basic cluster as your van, not 100% but speedo might be a direct swap over? not sure when they switched to km in Australia but it might be worth a look around for you less hassles than trying to import one?
mph have never been removed from our odometers, they have shown both ever since.
when our speed limits changed to km/h you used to be able to buy little round stickers to attach to the odometer face but had to remove the lense to install.
Thanks guys for your quick response. Our van speedo has miles only - Australia went to kilometres in or around 1973. For it to pass rego being built in 1976 it has to meet with Australian ADRs so it has to have kilometres. I can use the kilometre and mile ones (and it would be good to get one like that advertised in Canada but beggars can't be chooses). I'm looking for the full cluster as the van came from New Mexico, has seen a bit of heat, the backing material of the cluster is while and it is very powdery and brittle so I'm looking for a complete cluster.
The speedos weren't a direct swap over, they used a different instrument cluster. The cluster came from a Cortina (not sure whether you guys had them in the States/Canada).
Have seen a few on eBay USA but thought I'd ask on here because I thought maybe a few of you guys maybe had pulled some a part, had a spare one lying around you wanted to sell and wanted to make a couple of $$$s
