E250 2003 speedometer problem

Need help. 2003 E250 van battery went bad and speedometer quit working. Cannot find out why. Is the speedometer just bad or is it something else? Thanks for any and all help.

Is it still shifting as it should?

Does the odometer work or has it too failed?

I had asked if the trans is shifting properly too but here's an idea or two....

Most likely your cluster has failed and the easiest fix would be complete replacement. These are very year specific; if you go this route make sure you use cluster intended for your year and engine. Here's a good one: http://www.ebay.com/itm/2003-FORD-E250-VAN-79005-MILES-SPEEDOMETER-INSTRUMENT-CLUSTER-GAUGES-2604969-/271246779845?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&fits=Year%3A2003%7CModel%3AE-250&hash=item3f279165c5&vxp=mtre
If you're more adventurous here's a post I made about the pre-digital clusters, it would help you maybe replace just the speedometer portion if you're so inclined: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...l#post11747876

Hope this helps!

The transmission is working properly, no problems other than the speedometer stopped only after the darn battery quit. Replaced battery, no speedometer. I am fimiliar with the clusters as my chevy truck cluster had to be replaced which I did with no problems, took about 20 minutes.

Appreciate your help thanks Tom
