On the 1990 F350 7.5L is there a total of 3 pumps on this truck or 2?
I know that it has the 2 in tank pumps, one for the front tank and one for the rear tank. Is there also another fuel pump on the frame or something?
I hooked up a fuel pressure tester and it is reading less than 5 lbs. A fuel pump for this truck from Autozone is about $100 Does anyone have experience with aftermarket fuel pumps? I've seen quite a few of them on Ebay for less than $20 which is a huge difference in price compared to the Autozone price.
5 lbs on the front tank and then I took the gauge off and then put it back on and tested it again and then got zero. Tested the back tank and still got zero so I don't know what happened.
The truck only fires up for a few seconds then dies.
Can anyone tell me what part this is on my rear fuel tank that I accidentally broke and whether it would work to just jb weld it back together? I snapped the hose end off and it apparently has a little spring in it and a little plastic plunger. I think that I have it in the proper orientation as to how it came out but if anyone knows otherwise please let me know thanks.
That is the tank pressure relief valve and vents to a carbon filter canister. You should be able to buy one, but JB weld would likely do the trick. Christopher, don't cheap out on the pumps. Saving a few bucks only to have to repeat the pump replacement is not worth it. Airtes E2064M, Carter P74108. ACDEL 43-104 and walbro TU201. IMHO!

Reason: Pump info
Do the pumps turn on for a second or two when you turn the key on?
Will they continue to run if you jump the relay?
If yes to both you may want to take a look at your Fuel Pressure Regulator on the fuel rail.
Fuel Tank Venting
Fuel vapors trapped in the sealed fuel tank are vented through the orificed vapor valve assembly in the top of the tank. The vapors leave the valve assembly through a single vapor line and continue to the carbon canister (located in the engine compartment or along the frame rail) for storage until they are purged to the engine for burning.
