That steering wheel was/is a turd. The ring and center had cracks throughout it, cover for the horn was missing, so we're still looking.
License office Monday and hopefully legal to drive
Anybody know of Salvage Yards in the area that may have dent sides, or 70's Ford Van's I may need a few scouts finding older truck parts.
I'm looking for a steering wheel, and I'd like to find a factory In Can lock for the hood. Prefer it had the key with it, but that's an even longer shot.
Bob,
Did a quick look. We were talking at the dinner this last week and I remember one near Troy\Uwharrie that I passed, so i'll try to find it. Here is one that came up. Perhaps an hour's drive. Flashback F100's - Home
I believe this is the one I drove by out in Siler City years ago. They had a ton of ford trucks, but it's been a while. Marsh Auto Parts
This is the one I used a ton when I was growing up. They have one of those part network systems, so if they don't have it they can look it up and get it. Had great experience with them. Wallace Auto Parts & Salvage

They always got a couple of dents and a couple of bumps at LKQ (between Garner and Clayton) but not usually anything nice. You might be better looking for a steering wheel on ebay. I got one for your truck but it's ROUGH.
Sorry to hear that. Sounds like pretty good service out of that unit. One plus in replacing now is it will be a more efficient heat pump.
True. I've got an estimate from a guy to replace it. Comes highly recommended. There seems to be a whole little group of service\maintainance guys that really do a bang-up job around here, and I've stumbled on to them, with my A\C guy being the first one of them I met. He actually installed the current unit 18 years ago, according to the little old lady handwriting on the scratch pad that came with the house. Every thing that was ever done, has been recorded in that scratch pad, and every owner since of the house has added to it, based on the handwriting changes.
Well we shall see what happens, though, it's damn tempting to sell the jeep then to hit the savings for this one. I guess we shall see..
How's everyone else doing? Ready for the NEW YEAR!
Ready for this one to close out. Just had to get rescued from the dump for the second time. 94 Explorer. No warning signs. Either the starter gave out (plenty of click, no whir) or I have another wiring issue. Either way, wasn't getting home without a tow. Might just buy a tow truck being as this is such a recurring theme. The wife wants to get AAA. I called a bunch of wrecker services. Everyone was backed up by hours. Rain usually brings instant stupidity on the roads - just add water! Guess I can't blame the starter if it did fail. It is the original one from 94 and has faithfully logged 211k+.

Reason: you *buy* stuff *by* using money...
Not a bad truck payment at all.
I have me a steering wheel lined up for Ka'Bluey
My buddy back home that we bought him back from has one in his shop he's sending me. Say's its in great condition, but needs the center cover for the horn.
Picked me and the wife up some new carry rounds today from neuse sports shop. They had ammo at 20 percent off. So I picked me some .40 critical defense rounds, and her some in .380. I was previously carrying plain ol 180grain hp winchesters, but the critical defenses are 165 grain. They're supposed the be the best though, so figured they would be worth the $38 if they ever had to be used.
Had to talk myself out of bringing home a .460 s&w with 14" barrel and bipod they had in there too.
