E150 Engine Options
Hi Folks,
I am going to purchase a used 2000 - 20003 E150 Sport Van and was wondering which engine is the best as far as power, reliability and fuel economy goes, options include the 4.2liter 6, the 4.6 or 5.4 liter 8

If I were you I'd forget about the 4.2l. Not enough "juice" for a 4,600+ pound truck. I have a '98 E-150 with a 4.6l V-8. I'm very happy with it. But I don't do much towing (twice in the 2 years I've owned it) and I live in a relatively flat part of the country.
I believe the 2000 and up 4.6's have about 20 more HP and 30 more lb/ft of torque. But if you plan on doing much towing or live in a mountainous part of the country I'd go with the 5.4 liter.
