I have a 96 f350 7.3 with a t&h 6 position chip. Could I put that tuner in my 02 f350 7.3? I have a superchip in my 02 but can't blow a little black smoke. The t&h chip has, lope mode, smoke, towing at 12,500, and 15,000 .
Witch one is better? Thanks.

You can put the (I assume you mean TS Performance) chip from the 1996 in the 2002 but it won't run. It won't do anything but crank. It won't hurt anything but it won't work.
Why do you want to blow black smoke? Do you think it's cool? Are all the kids at school doing it?
Nope, I own two diesels. I just liked my 96 chip better and curious if it would work. Also I don't want a bunch of smoke because black mean non burnt fule. I just like to see a little puff here and there. Thanks for replying!
I think from what the guys at Gearhead told me with regards my excursion and the chip I had that had been burned for a same year pickup truck was that it could work but it wouldn't function like it should....basically all the Ex's have the California emissions and my glow plugs wouldn't fire right or something. Basically I needed to get the chip burned for my PCM. Not sure how much PCM difference is between your 02 powerstroke and the 96 OBS but it'd be worth a call to the Matt at Gearhead just to be sure
Geez... I already told him that it wouldn't work...quit adding complication to it.
Perhaps if you had added just a touch of explanation to your statement it might have come across as more than "I read it on the internet" type of answer.
It's pretty simple, most chips are burnt specifically to what ever PCM code your installing it in. Swapping it to the wrong PCM is bad JuJu....
It's more than that, and having a different code isn't necessarily a deal breaker. Seems like a lot of tuners were writing super duty tunes based on the PMT1 at one time (maybe still do).
Cody knows more about tuning than just about any other active poster we have here. I'm not saying he's wrong. I was just pointing out he could have offered a little better explanation.
