why cant i be cool?
alright, here is a question that im sure wont even come close to stumping you diesel guru's out there, okay, i have a '96 PSD auto, 10k mod, shimmed fpr, 3.5'' straight piped exhaust to a six inch tip, and it wont dump out black smoke like everyone else's trucks do, i feel like an outcasted sissy because my truck dosn't dump blinding clouds of black smoke, i assume its because its an auto but i know guys with autos who can dump mass amounts of smoke. dazed and confused so any help would be appreciated. thanks

well what chip should i use? and why? but even if i chip it, i still wont get alot of black smoke, i mean i might get some but i have riden with guys who have chips and they dont smoke alot, maybe a little cloud here and there but nothin serious. i havent chipped my truck because i dont want to loose a tranny and i have budget for my truck spending and its about $250 to buy a chip right now, as gas prices go up, the play money goes down.

Black smoke is a sign that you're dumping more fuel than you can efficiently burn. You have to either increase the amount of fuel by adding a chip/tuner, bury your foot in it at lower rpms before the turbo has a chance to wake up, or both.

yeah i just want to pull up at a stop light next to one of them there rice burners with coffe can exhaust and the windows down listenin to they're rap music and just fill they're car up with black smoke. ha ha that would be a sight. so cangim, what did you do to your rig that makes it smoke? what year? auto?

he dosnt have chips for my year of psd, he does have a microtuner but i dont think im interested in one of those. whats the brand of chip you used and what did it cost you?

i own a '96 and i havent contacted him i just checked out his website and it didnt show any chips for my truck. i want the better bang for the buck as far as performance goes and four hundred dollars is a hell of a bang. i think that if i buy a chip im going to probably look into the banks six gun plus the speed loader to go along with it. but that setup is alittle more then four hundred dollars i know that. like i said im looking right now to keep her under 250 - 300 dollars because i got to fill her up with diesel and we all know that aint cheap, well at least around here. so any help or advice would be appreciated.

byrddog - you had posted a link in one of your replys above i simply clicked on it, no biggie though. i do have a question for you about the dieselstop.com website. when you click faq's and then you select '94 - '97 PSD and then click tips & tricks, only some tips can be accessed, is there anyway to view the other tips? hopefully you know what im talking about.
