We just bought a 2010 F150 SCrew XLT 5.4L 4x4 92k miles on Thursday. I noticed Friday night when stopping at the bottom of a small hill there was a clunk as it down shifted into 1st right as I stopped. This is just down the road from our house. Saturday night same deal except when I went to accelerate the Tranny seemed to be slipping, engine reved up but no go. Let off pedal and reapplied foot to pedal, truck drove no problem. Any ideas???
May be low on fluid? but the dipstick isn't easy to get to...... Id have it checked asap.
I wondered about that. It rained all day today and crawling under there to access the dipstick didn't sound appealing. According to the Ford dealership it was all roses. Came with a 50/50 warranty, 30 days or 1000 miles.

Fluid was good. Took to dealer for leaking satellite antenna gasket. Told them about issue. They brought up the flex yoke issue but ruled that out because it was a one piece drive shaft. But it was also hard shifting. The dealer performed TSB 110812A flash and recalibrate PCM and TCM. Said give it 3 weeks to learn our driving habits and hard shift should clear up. The clunk in the drive shaft in the rear end is still there. May grease it and see if that helps.
Newbie here. I bought a 2011 last year with 50k miles on it. Love the truck. Have had Fords most of my life (61). I noticed a noise too and a "grab" once and a while with my tranny too. Seems to be minor but is alarming. I've asked the dealer but they say it is a normal thing. I am monitoring it. It has not gotten worse of the year. It is only once and a while. It has done it with or with out pulling a small trailer. Mine is a 4x4 if that makes a difference. Everything seems to work fine. Just a little annoyance. Still enjoying the ride.........

Welcome to the forum, Robert 5. Since you're concerned, you may want to consider getting a second opinion at a different Ford Dealership. How many miles are on the truck now?
2010 F150 Transmission rebuilt at 87,000 (radiator - transmission cross contamination). Truck had a rough life prior to buying it but got a great price on it (even considering the tranny work). I just did the breaks, replaced the spark plugs, the vacuum solenoid and vacuum check valve. The truck runs great and I drive it pretty easy and (14.5 mpg). My question is this:
When I am driving there is a sensation (I can feel it more than I can hear it) that I can only describe as gritty, like there is a bit of sand in one of the drivetrain joints or possibly the transmission. Anyone have any ideas what might be causing this?
