I have a 2012 F-150 XLT Super Crew 4X4 Ecoboost with around 9700 miles on it. I have notices a slight skipping when I gently roll on the gas at highway speeds (50-70 mph). It also seems to make a slight knock when it shifts from 3rd to 4th, 4th to 5th and sometimes from 5th to 6th. There are no warning lights on and other than that everything works normal. Can someone shed some light on this issue for me? Thank you for reading my post.
Hello...Welcome to FTE! You might want to take it to the dealer and have them reflash the transmission and go from there. Report back and let us know how it went.
Somewhere else on this or another F-150 forum I was reading that there is an internal bulletin Ford released to dealership service departments on how to explain to customers that the rough shifting is normal and is in fact the transmission saving itself some wear & tear. Not sure where I read it.
I have the same problem with the truck i own, i've taken it to the dealer 5 times and they said it was the 2 pc drive shaft and not the transmission and all they do is add grease to the drive shaft. There is a service bulletin on this, and as of now FORD is doing nothing to correct the knocking sound. My truck started doing this @ 10,400miles and At times it sounds like the rear end is coming out ,
Mine does this too. I can't tell if it's coming from the engine or transmission but it only does it on an incline at low rpm at highway speeds. It's not consistent either. It's definitely not normal, regardless of what ford says.
My plan is to drive he hell out of the truck till something gives. I have 25k miles left till my powertrain warranty expires. If it does fail, I hope it happens before then.
