RUNNING BOARD CONVERSION

I have a 2012 F-350 Crewcab with stock King Ranch running boards. I like them but would like to drop them like the AMP-Research or Bestop running boards. Nothing against these guys, they make a great product. I just like my stock look. It actually keeps a lot of the mud spray off the side of the truck. Anybody pass some info/ideas my way would be greatly appreciated.

i am not sure what you are asking
u want to drop them? u mean make them lower to the ground?

i my 06 with oem running boards in did the opposite, cut the brackets to raise the boards and shimmed them to move them in. it looks better as they are now tighter t the body

now if u want to make the oem boards articulate like some that would be a neat trick

I would like them to drop when I open the door and return to stock location when the door is closed.

I'm not sure I know what stock KR running board look like. I used to think I know, but I've seen so many different kinds on the KRs lately, I'm no longer sure. Are yours the 6" chrome tubes or the flat step that runs from wheel well to wheel well?
In any event, the motors are going to be your most expensive part, I would think. I would imagine you could purchase the Amp Research, install, and simply substitute your step for the one they supply. That would probably allow you to recoup some of the cost by selling their brand new step with your old hardware.
