93 E150 rear AC access
I was a few steps into the job when I remembered to take pictures. I was going to complete the photo journal while buttoning up but I forgot so here's the first few steps in words:
- Get the fourth row bench out of the way. I unlatched all but the first row of seats and moved them forward.
- There are 7 trim clips - one for the left side weather strip, 3 for the upper liner, 3 for the lower liner. The clips are like wall anchors in which a screw causes tabs to splay. To remove the clips, hold the outer circumference from turning while removing the Philips head screw. With the screw out, pry off the outer circumference which the tabs are part of. The weatherstrip is a press fit along the left edge of the aft opening and tucks into the floor trim.
- Release the upper liner which covers the aftmost pillar and the lower edge of the window. Give it a sharp pull away from the window holding it a couple of inches below the ceiling. Then pull it away from the winder starting just aft of the last row seat belt slot. When the aftmost clip releases, the other two will be visible. I didn't bother releasing the liner from its forward attachment. Once the lower liner is removed, put the upper liner back in place so its out of the way.
- Remove a screw that take a 5/16" socket from each of the 3 brackets along the window lower edge, then pry the forward edge of the lower liner away from the midship lower liner. There are top middle and lower clips. Lower liner trailing edge clips removed:

- Upper liner hanging loose, lower liner held by 3 integral brackets that are screwed to the body and to which the upper liner attaches. I screw that takes a 5/16" socket per bracket:

- Rear AC in all its dusty glory; upper, middle and lower clip locations for the lower liner to the midship liner visible on the far right, blue vacuum line goes to the hot/cold flap vacuum motor just aft of the light colored band on the heater hose as it descends behind the wheel hump:

- The heater core is well forward of the blower and evaporator. The heater core plenum cover is held by 6 screws that take a 5/16"s socket:

- The heater core sits in a plenum held only by its shape. Remove the two hoses and it pulls right out:

- Detail of the hose clamps:

- When replacing OE formed hose with regular heater hose, mind how you route the bends by the heater core fittings. The plenum extension that connects to the duct presses the hoses against a body panel edge. Make sure the hoses aren't against the edge or pad the edge.

The biggest challenge with the Club Wagon or Chateau trim levels is removing the plastic panels without damaging them. Even with my long time experience with them its a challenge every time.
I'm thinking this thread might be included in our Tech Folder. Even though not a hot topic here it could be useful to someone at some point.
