I was wondering if I could remove the houseing that the heater hoses and AC lines went to without losing my heat. I see where alot of trucks just have the heather hoses connecting at the firewall and the blower motor to the left of the hoses. I will try to post the picture that shows my engine bay and the part I am talking about is the black housing on the left side on the cab firewall.
Or, you could get an after market A.C. kit for the truck and keep your A.C. and heat registers in the same location and just have to patch the hole in the fire wall....
so are those tin cans supposed to be there? (top left, bottom right in the pic) my engine has the one in the top left of the picture. i thought whoever owned it before me just did a really cheap rigging job or something
When you remove the AC "box", it will leave a big hole in the fire wall. I cut a piece of the fire wall out of my donor truck when I removed my AC and put it in, along with the non AC heater. I would have liked to kept it but the turbo on my Cummins engine didn't play well so one or the other had to go. I plan to find a dealer installed AC system and add it back in using the factory dash vents.
I'm confused...what are you trying to do? Get rid of the AC or get rid of the AC system?
The reason i ask is because i have an AC truck, i removed the AC and lines along with the condensor. Just capped everything off. Still have heat, no leaks and no huge AC compressor in the way. Just wondering what the point of removing the entire core is...
He has a factory A.C. truck and wants to eliminate the bulky plenum assembly in the engine compartment. That contains the blower assembly, heater core and evaporator coil.
