So I am getting ready to complete a solid axle swap on my 87 F250. The axle I have underneath the truck now has a lot of miles and is worn out, and the leafs are starting to push the tires inward. I was able to pick up a couple of D60's for a decent price. Since then I have picked up all brand new parts for the swap. Brakes, rotors, calipers, tierod ends, adjusting sleeves, and track bar. I have springs off an 87 cab & chassis, and only need to buy a pitman arm now. The problem I'm running into is I can't get one through O'Riellys, Autozone, Advance Auto, Carquest, or Pepboys, and when I contacted Ford they told me the part was obsolete. I recently went to rock auto and found a pitman arm, but the brand is MAS which I've never heard of. Has anyone dealt with this brand before. I've put a lot of effort into getting quality parts, Moog, and don't want to have to worry because I have a junk pitman arm. Or would I be able to use the stock one off my 87? The axle that is going underneath is off a 91 F350. I have been combing the forum trying to find answers and so far have come up with nothing.
I don't have an answer to the question, but I have been thinking about it too as I am planning a SAS in my '88. I'll subscribe to hear what the more knowledgeable members have to say.
Thanks for the part numbers, I will look into those and try to get the best parts possible. Since I am going through the axle end to end I want to make sure I get the best parts, about 1500 into this swap, not the time to chince out.
