Solid Axle
My brother got into a wreck in my dads 86 f-250 diesel. I think it moved some stuff around in the front end pretty good, but not bad. We were thinking about doing a solid axle swap. The ford scrap people in denver said that the flex axle in-tact is worth 3k because the parts are not available. and that the solid axle swap is impossible. Has anyone done a swap like this?? thanks alot, Aaron

It is possible, and I am in the process of that swap on my truck. Here's an idea for you- ask them for $3k for the parts you remove from the truck, then later drive up with the straight axle under it. If you want to make more money, I will sell you my TTB setup for only $2k!

Those guys must be thinking half ton.... Grab an 85.5-97 F350 front axle, steering linkage, pitman arm, track bar/x-member bracket(not really necessary, but, it rides better with it,) and maybe the front driveshaft(the F350 unit is 1" shorter, and has a CV joint at the t-case end) and bolt it all in. May want to grab the springs too, some F350's have positive arch springs that would make for about 4" lift total(the axle alone is good for 2")
