Try to remove VC's and injectors on this 7.3 in an E450. Anyone got any tips on access and removal-installation on this tight quarters E series. Was really hoping not to have to do all this work but it is what it is. Any tips, pointers or anything else would be much appreciated! Thanks
I did it on my Van ....Not fun....But I am Big ...think Offensive Lineman..but I posted it here on this site.....other people suggested other methods but I guarantee they are small people.....I am not....good luck..here is my adventure...http://www.thedieselstop.com/forums/...cement-205113/
Thank you for responding. I'm not big but old and decrepit. Have many issues so I am sure they will apply.. lol Checking it out now. Just got the passenger VC off. What a job that was. Worked on vans years ago with a lot smaller power plants. Man, this thing is so tight I almost don't see how they even got it in. Drivers side wasn't to bad but. Thanks for posting.
the main thing is to drain the HPOP system ......then after you install the new O-rings you bathe them in oil Individually and install each one according to Factory Specs.... I used a Maple drift to seat the injectors....then I Torqued them.....that's it ....Small & Agile guys take off the solenoid on top of injector # 3 and # 5 ....But I am way too **** for that.....what if one of those tiny screws fell inside the engine....That's All I can say about that....

How in the world did you get #3 out without taking the solenoid off? I don't have enough room to get a torx socket to even get the bolts out of it. I thought from the start when I saw the amount of space and while taking the VC off that it was going to be an issue. Your input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Did you not read my write-up ? I took off the starter/ downpipe and Jacked the engine & Trans Assembly .....with bottle Jacks and a piece of 2x4 each....
Sorry, I thought I had. Been reading so many things forget which ones I have a hadn't. I managed to get it out. Had to creative with some tools but got it done. Thank you for your time and replies!
