Hello all,
I was wondering what type of programmers/chips that you all are running in your 7.3s. I'm lookin at doing one but just don't know where to start looking. Any advise whether it's something I should look into or something I should stay away from is appreciated.
Thanks for the advise
I know there will be other recommendations, but if you just want a little (a lot) of realy good attitude from your truck. I 've been running TS 6 position for twelve years and no hiccups.
Easy quick install and instant attitude. Lets just say Volkswagon to a corvette 1/2 hour.
The PHP Hydra seems to be the latest go to for a lot if people. You can receive tunes from almost any programmer and the email them to you, then you just hook the programmer up to your computer and upload to it, no more sending the tuner in for updates or anything like that. There are several liked and widely used programmers/authors out there. It can have tunes from multiple people stored on it at anyone time, and will hold up to 18 different tunes. The only caveat to this is it is not generally a good idea to switch between different programmers tunes in the fly as they don't always play nicely with each other and can shut your truck off while your moving.
Search for a user name Tugly and in his signature there is a thread about being ready for tuning. Read through it and make your own decision to move forward or step back for a moment and reconsider.
If/when you decide to go with a tuner, it is a personal preference matter that only you can say yes or no to. I like GearHead and am going with them for my tuner. Others like Tony Wildman, others like DP, some like PHP... It goes on and on... Just be careful because some tuners run much hotter and tune in bad ways. There is a lot of literature out there and I highly recommend doing a lot of research and make an educated decision.
