Hey Guys, has anybody repaired the front part of a 65 styleside bed? Mine had been repaired with diamond plate about the last 8 inches in the end of the bed next to the cab. I have a donor piece out of another bed to match, but don't have the front crossmember support. I plan to use 2 pieces of angle iron for the support piece and notch the part that straddles the frame, weld a flat piece across the notch at the proper depth, for the front bolts to fasten down through. Does anyone have a better Idea? My last post was about floor pans, the ones I got were super! Have the drivers side installed, working on the passengers. Thanx in advance for the brain storming!

That's strange. I though all the 64 -66 Styleside beds were the same. Wish I still had my old original bed, the crossmembers in it were still usable. Good luck,
The reason the donor crossmember is not the same is that is is from the middle of the bed. I might try to make it work but the spacing between bolt holes is not the same either. Also the depth from the bottom ofthe bed to frame is different too. I would have to add about 1/2 inch in between, then also add to each side. A friend of mine is doing the welding for me, he thinks it will be easier to fabricate a cross member than to use the middle one & make it work. I do have a good pattern from the old crossmember from the donor bed, its just really rusty. Thanx again. Will let you know how it turns out.
