Misc thoughts at 25K miles
-Awesome fit and finish - A+
-Overall average mileage (city and hwy) - 17MPGs
-I can get over 20 MPGs on the highway if I am running 65MPH or under. I have hand calc'ed a tank at over 22 MPGs on a trip running 60.
-Towing and power are top notch. Driving my other vehicles (except for the motorcyle) is a power let down.
-Overall satisfaction - A-
Repairs.
The truck has been in the shop twice (really once but they had to buy parts). All for (relatively) minor repairs. As a Ford stock holder (yeah I know) it is frustrating how much time and energy they have to use for simple mods. I will say that service has been top notch. I use Hall Ford in Newport News, VA and Lisa on the diesel team. They have been excellent to deal with. This may also be due in part to me not needing the truck on a daily basis so I can just drop it off for as long as needed. All repairs listed were covered under warranty.
On to the repairs....
1. The seat plastic trim on the cloth seats broke from sliding out of the seats. My fiance (who is small) actually did this. There is little side support and when she slides out, weight is put on the trim piece (where the recline **** is). This is a poor design.
2. Port side reverse light went out.
3. The track for the rear window slide curled up. They had to put in an entire window. This seems wasteful.
4. I noticed an oil leak near the front of the motor during my last oil change. It was dripping onto the panhard bad. It turned out to be a leaking front crank seal. This was replaced.
Other than what is listed above, the truck has been perfect. After 25K miles I am extremely pleased with the purchase. Other than a new Camry, this has been the best built vehicle I have owned (including Jeeps, other Fords, and a new Tundra).
Cheers,
Dave.
