I have been having a similar issue, Last year or was it the year before... My Speedometer would sweep while driving. replaced the speed sensor, batteries, alternator. etc. Eventually got a new Cluster from Circuit board Medics and replaced it before taking a 6000 mile trip. Gauge sweep calmed down but did not totally go away but did eventually 500 miles or so into the trip. Have since put on about 20,000 miles with no sweeping. However, right along, the water in fuel light would be on and off. Changing the filters makes no difference, learned to ignore it. Also Battery light on more than off, I have Scan gauge plugged in always and monitor the charging system. The gauge shows 13.6 -14.2 . 4 weeks ago my alternator died while driving home at night along with the truck. Replaced the alternator with spare I had on the shelf and was back up and running. Last week the speedometer began sweeping, completely maxing out, then falls to zero & zeros out the odometer, and the truck stalls when slowing down to lower speed for stops or turns. If the approach to the stop is slow and takes enough time the speedometer will reengage along with the odemeter and then no stalling. If it stall it starts right back up thank god! Had a garage replace the speed sensor again, they thought they had it fixed. Also they thought there may be a glitch from the alternator. The scan gauge does not reflect any spikes above 14.2 or so while any of this is happening. Perhaps it is not able to catch a spike soon enough? I am suspecting a poor ground/connection of some sort.
When I hit a large pothole on the road, my instrument panel and Sync panel turn off for a few seconds. During those seconds the truck looses some power and the ac compressor stops cooling. It then all the comes back to almost normal except the anti-slip light comes on. I actually scanned it and the Steering Wheel sensor was at fault. I thought it might not be calibrated after the power outage, so I straightened the wheels, reset the fuse panel under the dash, cleared error codes and car works fine....untill I hit another large pothole. Ohh and it happens mostly on uphill potholes.
Probably a bad connector somewhere, but which one?
