2006 Explorer no crank

Well I have no idea where to start with this one. My wifes explorer will not atempt to turn over. When I turn the key to the run position the dash does not do anything. I dont get any indicator lights or anything from the dash. And also the PATS light in now a steady dim light. So now I am confused and dont know where to start on this one. Is this a PATS issue or is my instrument cluster the problem? I did read the TSB on the cluster. Anyone have any insight to this? Thanks Mike

Sounds like a weak battery or a loose/dirty connection. If the battery is the original battery, it's provided probably 5 or more years of service and should be getting weak.

Do you have a multimeter or voltmeter to check the charge on the battery, both with nothing on as well as when trying to start the truck? If the voltage drops on the cables below 10.5 volts, your system voltage is low and is very likely the issue.

Well i took the battery cable off and left it for about an hour. Hooked it back up and it is back to normal starting and running. The first thing I did was put a meter on it. It had 12.5 volts. So I then put my jump pack on it. Nothing. I think the PATS system got hung up and locked the car out. The light on the dash was lit up and did not blink. Also the instrument cluster would not work. Not even the lights to see the instrument cluster. If I put the key in the chime did not work either. As soon as I hooked the battery back up the PATS light started blinking again. Put the key in and now the instrument cluster came on. It was very weird and had me scratching my head for awhile. I just hope this does not come back anytime soon.
