302 to 300

Engine
Firepipe
Proper flywheel
Fan shroud
Radiator
Motormounts/perch
What else can y'all think of? How about hooking up the kickdown linkages to the AOD?

If I remember correctly back when I swapped out my 300 for 351w I had to buy the engine stands that bolt to the frame and the cross member under the engine, so if you are wanting to go the other way you will have to remove the engine stand. The 300 mounts to the crossmember. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
As for everything thing else I'm not sure it may all switch over.

I am tuned in as sometime down the road I my go from the 300 to a 302 or?
I don't have a truck yet to look at to see how the 300 is bolted in.

So Mastech are the stands the motor mounts bolt to part of the cross member so the whole cross member has to be changed out or just the stands? I don't have a truck yet to look at to see how the 300 is bolted in.

The stands/towers/perches are riveted and bolted to the frame and cross member, here's a pic of the ones used for an M-block engine with part numbers for a 302 and 351W in a subsequent post by ND Bill:

I have to second that they are riveted in. Guy at work has a '82 F150 long wheel base work truck that he wanted us to drop a 5.0 coyote motor out of a 2012 wrecked mustang in. Sad to say he had to take it back to the body shop to cut the twin I beam front end out from under it and will be installing a crown vic front end.

But to the op question I do not know about swaping from a 8 cylinder to a 6 cylinder. I don't even think I have seen personally a '80 to '86 style F series truck with a 6 cylinder in it.

Thanks guys for the link and the information it helped me and hope it helped the OP.
He may have a harder time going from v8 to I6 because of the "towers" needed for the I6. Not a lot of people go v8 to I6. May be you can see if someone did a I6 to v8 swap to get the towers & mounts from?

On a side note would the F100/F150 I6 drive train, stick or auto trany and rear handle v8 power?

If the I6 equipped truck had either 4 speed stick or the C5/6 auto then yes, with the 4 speed overdrive stick I would be less sure of it but it would be fine if driven carefully. The SROD was put behind both the 300 and 302 as well as in 4x4 models, but was mostly meant for good mileage, not for strength. This gen truck could've had either the 8.8 or 9" rears, both of which are commonly run behind 500+ hp motors with no mods

My Aod handles my 302 fine. I do not hotrod. I do pull my 16 ft trihull during the summer and my AC model B fine, just pull the tranny into D. The engine runs fine, leaks oil out the front seal, and has a pronounced knock during the summer after any extended run time. A comprsssion testrevealed 150 psi on 6 out of 8, with two lagards being at 135 and 130. My friend has an 82 f100 that he pulled the six out of years ago for a 351. We have all the big stuff and the price is right, free. We swap crap all the time. The six is complete from the ACC to flywheel, oil pan to valve cover, intake and Carb, exhaust manifold and fire pipe, all engine mount from frame to block. He has the radiator, I have the external tranny cooler. The AOD rod is my biggest hurdle.

On the AOD rod I am not sure if your v8 one will work or not, thinking not.
Now in the AMC car ring when installing a TF904/998/727 auto and don't have the rod/linkage we look to Lokar for a cable setup.
See if they have one for the Ford AOD trany.

I pulled 300 years ago and dropped in a modified 289. Had to fab a drive shaft.... and use proper flywheel.
