how much work would it take to bolt in a I6 in place of my 302. my truck origanly came with the 300I6 but had a 302 when i got it.. will the c4 bolt right up.. by the way the donor engine is out of an 82 granada will that be a good swap or should i get one out of a truck
You'll have to swap motor mounts on the frame, a new radiator, the trans will bolt up, but you'll have to use the flywheel from the 300 with the engine you are bolting in.
Also that engine in the granada is probably not a 300, as it never came in a car, its more than likely a 240, a great engine of its own, and somewhat a revver compared to the 300.
what would be the best 300 to use i was thinking one out of a truck would be better but i dont know much about fords this is my first... what year should i look for im thinkin 70's because there old school with them big ole round thingys on top.
Depends on the year of vehicle we're working on here, as you may be in an area that requires emissions testing. But then again, the 300/302 swap wouldn't have been possible if so.
Getting a 300 from a 70s truck should be good, as thats a true carb'd engine, and doesn't have any electronic controls for the carb, or ignition.
im gonna put the 300 in a 77 f100 that origanly had one so the emissons shouldnt be a problem.. i dont know if its just i havnt ever had a 300 but i cant see a I6 moving a full size truck better than a v8 but so many people tell you somthing you have to try it.. is performance parts gonna be hard to find for the 300
Hipo parts for the 300 are are all over the place (if you look) also it the car has a inline six it is a 200 not the 240 ,the last year for the 240 is 1974 . If you can find a 240 and a 300 take the head off of the 240 and put it on the 300 and that will give it alittle more punch .
Try doing a search in this forum for parts and mods for the 300 and you will be surprised how many things you can do to the 300 to get some more hp/tq out of it !
By the way the 300 will out pull a 302 any day of the week .
I had '78 F100 short box that had a 300 in it and I put a 302 into it and I was not impressed !
