I think those were the same ones i was looking at. When i look for em on summit, it pulls up 2243512ha20.. which of course leads me to believe they are .020 over unfortunately. Justin said ebay, but all i can find there is an out of stock link to summit....
Nice to have an ready supply of heavier rods, doesnt do alot of good if turbo pistons cant be sourced... or back to bushing the rods for the 28mm pin....
The picture is an idi piston. The turbo Pistons have a deep hole no the center to reduce compression
The IDIT or DI(Powerstroke) pistons?
The powerstroke pistons sure look like that, I thought the IDIT pistons looked just like IDI pistons except for minor changes.
Quick question for anyone who knows:
Is there a reason a standard IDI piston couldn't be bored out for the IDIT pins? Is there any other differences or reason why you couldn't just set it up on a manual mill and bore the holes larger?
Can be had cheaper at summit, but only listing .020 im deducing from the part number. Going to call em later today to see if i can get more info, and if they can get std. bore slugs.
Ok, more news. Summit does not even show the IDIT pistons other than discontinued in their computer. Also the guy was in a pretty pissy mood, considering I was the one on hold for 15 minutes... thought that kinda strange.
Jegs on the other hand, I went right through, talked to a really nice guy, and they have 48 pistons ready to ship, and more with rings already on them. He told me they will match Summits price of $484.97, listed for $76.99 ea. on Jegs, which is $615.92 for 8. Ones with rings already on them are $111 ea.

Compression height of 1.940 Pin dia. 1.307
It's just as well you don't have rings on them. See if you can find "file-fit" rings; that way you can tighten up the gaps. The stock gaps are /huge/; my machine builder tightened them /way/ up and it cut down on blowby and such. No issues so far.
Thats exactly what i told the guy, after i assumed and asked if they were pre-fit rings.
My machinist asked me why i dont just use powerstroke pistons too when i told him the psd rods will need milled.... but supposed to do really good machine work, so we will see how it goes.

Missed that before, im still not convinced you cant, but... Once you bore the piston, theres not really anyway to remachine the groove for the snap ring. Option 2, which i briefly spoke to my machinist about, is bore the piston for the 33mm pin, and use a press in / semi-float rod bushing. I was told this would eat the piston due to the compression and high cylinder pressures.
going from my memory @ 6:24 AM and with only a 1/4 cup of coffee gone,
im pretty sure the area around the wrist pin is larger than the NA.
in reguards to the snap ring groove, i have done them with a dremel tool on the bridgeport. altho it wasnt for a wrist pin, its kinda the same concept? lol
i have a concrete pour today, ill take some snapshots of the 030 over turbo slugs i have vs the 030 N/A slugs
