Heard that faulty converters are replaced up to 120,000 miles on the 3 valve 5.4. Just wondering if there is any truth to this.
If so has anyone had their cats replaced under this coverage ?
Thanks
My fiancé just had this done on her 2008 Pontiac G6 V6. Car wouldnt go when you stepped on it, it kept throwing traction control lights when doing so. Took to dealer and the diagnosed clogged cats, 119,347.8 at time of problem and GM installed new header, header studs, gaskets, all four oxygen sensors, brand new y-pipe with cats and new mid pipe ALL FREE UNDER FEDERAL WARRANTY
Sounds good guys and thanks a lot. I was going to buy new cats and weld them on myself, but if ford and the Feds are going to foot the bill, sounds like a way better deal. Scheduled an appointment for this Friday.
Thanks again.
I wrote to Ford's customer relationship center the other day to see about the converter issue and this is what was sent to my e-mail.
I have 110,440 miles on my truck and it is a 2009.

Man you can't beat that... Probably $2000 worth of work !
i couldnt believe either! When i got the call and they said clogged cat my first thought was like CRAP looks like im jacking the sucker up on blocks and taking the pipe down to weld in a aftermarket one...then the lady said i have good news its covered under federal law and its all free. I was like HE$$ YEA
Just back from the dealer. Everything is covered under warranty. They ordered the entire Y pipe assembly.
Thanks so much to everyone for all the info and for saving me a pile of money !
