Steering Column Diagram

Hi all

Does anyone have a diagram of a 55 truck steering column, in particular, the floor mount clamps and how it all attaches to the floor plates ?

I've got a 53, but I think the steering column setup is the same. There is no connection between the column and the floor. At the bottom, the steering box bolts to the frame. At the top, there is a clamp connection to the underside of the dash. At the level of the floor, there are metal plates with rubber sandwiched between them to create a weather seal where the column comes through the floor.

Ditto on my 56. Don't imagine Ford changed everything between years. Just took mine stock steering out and it's was exactly how JVMCC explained.

Hi guys, thanks for the answers. Mine has all that you described and then another bit on the floor.

Mine has a clamp setup that bolts to the floor plates and it looks like this -

This clamp holds the steering shaft tube on the bottom.

That's an aftermarket clamp usually used with an aftermarket column. Since the original column is part of the steering box, that clamp isn't needed.
