Why does the 1000 need to be torn down? Aren't they supposed to last a bit longer than that?
It is being torn down to send the crankshaft out for balancing.

Well, it's hard to say. Somewhere in the 60-90 minute range I hear. That's a lot of 500-1000 foot passes down the drag strip though. We have a guy that ran 4.69 seconds in the 1/8 this past summer.
