Is there a test port in a C6 Tranny?
I have a 86 E350 with a 460 engine and a C6 Tranny. It is in the shop getting a new tranny. I would like to put on a temp guage for the transmission. Is there a Test Port to attach it to? Is this the best way. Any other suggestions, or installation pointers. Brand of guage and where did you mount the guage?

There is no "TEMP" port on a C6.. The best place to mount it is in the pan or in the return side from the cooler...I have a Auto Meter Trans temp gauge and sending unit.. I used there inline temp mounting block which I installed between the Aux cooler and the C6.. If you decide not to install the temp unit in the pan, don't install it in the cooler out(Front Line) line.. You will get false high readings from it.. The cooler out line comes directly from the torque converter.. Your gauge will read pretty high if you are towing or in stop and go traffic..The best place is to take the reading from the pan...You can get them from a number of sources..Summitracing.com, Jegs.com..Do a search and you will find many...Perma Cool has a external filter and temp gauge combo for 79.95.. SummitRacing carries it P/N PRM-10677.. The external filter is the way to go!! The temp unit for the gauge mounts right into the filter housing...Since you are getting a new C6 put in it is a REAL GOOD IDEA to use a external filter.. Your C6 will love you for it...Hope this helps..
