Have a 99 ranger 3.0 4x4. No forward unless put in low range and higher rpm to get to go forward, reverse is fine, fluid looks and smells fine. Ideas? Thanks in advance
I've taken out and disassembled expecting to find burnt clutches or something obvious but all looks good.
No burnt clutches, cut seals, or broken hard parts that I can see. Ideas? Thanks

Should the reverse drum spin both directions or only 1 way with sprag?

You can replace the race but it requires a drill jig tool to get it right.
This is all I found for that but this is only for the 4.0L. It might work since you have to replace the drum too. Call them and ask, I have never done this.
So it might be easier and or cheaper to get a case.
Any ideas where to get a good case? Just want something I can move the guts over to with rebuild kit I have already purchaded?are they year specific? Thanks Brian

You need to check your case for speed sensors and maybe find the casting number to try and find a match. I am not sure about changes throughout the years, hopefully the parts guy will know his stuff.
I use Transtar and I have a local company TPU that I have used for years for hard parts.
Here is one I found on Ebay, I am sure there is more, I dont use Ebay much but you can find the parts you need if you know what you are looking for.
