Anyone have experience with the knock off harley edition ebay headights?.. Most of them retail for about $100 so I wouldnt neccesarily expect OEM quality. I would be using my stock bulbs becaue I mainly just want the blacked out look. Are they good enough to justify the $100 or am I better off just saving my money?
You could separate your lights and paint them or pay a few more dollars for quality OEM. I bet a $100 doesn't make a huge difference either especially when regarding yours and others safety.
I did just buy some Chinese stock looking headlights. Nice having new clear lenses. They fit nice except one the sockets had the tabs clocked incorrectly, not allowing the bucket to seat properly. I had to do a little trimming with the side cutters but it was easy. Much cheaper than oem
I got them on my truck. I changed mine out and it did take a good bit of extra trimming on my truck, but I have a 99 and was doing the upgrade on mine. They look real nice and seem to be ok quality. I will try to get a pic of them in a little while uploaded. I also just ordered another set of them for my stepdads truck.
I didn't the eBay ones on my wife's expedition. Put knock off Lightning lights in. The only thing I would reccomendation is to put a bead of silicone around the mating surface and smooth it out. That way your chances or moisture goes down a lot. Did this to the wife's truck and it's a year and counting. No moisture.
I bought the Harley lights off eBay a few years ago for my 2006, the brand was "Eagle Eyes" & they were on my truck for a couple months probably w/no issues.
Then I took them apart so I could repaint the Black in Copper to match my truck & resealed them. NO issues what so ever with them in years as far as moisture. I should also note, I run Sylvania Silverstar Bulb's & honestly I think this combo projects a better light pattern than my OE housings did.
If they are "Eagle Eye" brand...Buy em
Note: I have a 2001 Focus that I drive to work & it has also had "Eagle Eye" headlamps in it for about 2 years, due to OE's becoming yellow'd.
They have had NO moisture issues either & project a much better light pattern than my OE's
Here's some Pic's just for reference
