I had any issues but I don't order much through them. I do have an order on the way right now though. Mostly I have ordered the generic small parts that most everyone carries.
I'd stay away from them on most rubber parts as they sell a lot of junk Chinese rubber goods. I also found Mac's to be quite a bit higher than most others on shipping. Depending on what you are looking for, in my opinion there are better suppliers out there. Candy at Classic Haulers is very good to deal with and stocks almost anything 'stock' that you need. Dennis Carpenter is also very good as is Midwest Early Ford.
Mac's (and several other companies in recent years) was bought out by Eckler's, the Corvette people. I've found a lot of strange things in their catalogs regarding pricing. Same part in a different application catalog can have different pricing, depending on the popularity of the model, and how much they think they can stick you for it. Just my observation.
There isn't a supplier out there, for anything, that someone hasn't had a problem with. And what was a good supplier one day may not be any more. It would help if you gave us a clue what specific parts you need?
They have been around a long time and their "coverage" for lack of a better term is pretty good. Catalogs are pretty good for seeing what is available. I'm sure glad somebody sells parts for these things.
They used to use Ford part #s, seems to be a no brainer, but they stopped doing that. Maybe Ford doesn't like that?
No matter what company, if time is a consideration for workflow call them and make sure the part(s) are in stock and ready to ship, back order is a dirty word in my book. Very aggravating. Online ordering is great but a lot of companies don't have their inventory tied in.
Thanks everyone. The shipping charges on my order wher $15. More if I ordered on line then if I order by phone. Go figure. My credit card received charges from an account rofacebook @@@. When contacted by cc company I told them no had not charged to anyone like that and told them last purchase made was at Marc's that day. They canceled my card and I had to change auto pay info at several places. A real pain. Turns out it was mac's charging shipping cost separate from the rest of the invoice. Other problems with them but they all have their problems. Vanpelts has been good so far.
I got my order yesterday.......
wiper blades
wiper arms
heater core seals
cowl vent seal
mirror grommets
battery lid seal
Fuel tank filler neck hose
heater box vent boot
All the parts are made in Taiwan but seem to be good quality.
Fitment will be the real test.
I think all of the online restore parts places sell some parts that are outsourced.
Shipping was higher than DC's flate rate charge but the part prices were lower.
This is the second time I ordered from LMC and have had no problems with the orders.
I liked Mac's better before they were bought out by Ecklers. Now it seems every other day I get an email offering a discount on something if I order by a certain date. It makes you feel foolish if you need to buy something that's not on sale. Another issue is that the prices in the current catalog are often lower than when you go online to place an order. I agree that their shipping costs can also be high. On a positive note, they probably have the widest selection of parts for the earlier trucks ('48-'50).
I'm planning to replace the aluminum trimmed tailgate with a plane panel on with just the blue oval, for now though I'm replacing the broken reflector panel with a piece of plexiglas and mount a blue oval in the center instead of the FORD at one end.
