LMC Trucks - Any thoughts about their Quality?

LMC Trucks - Any thoughts about their Quality?
I have been looking at different parts catalogs and putting together my build list. It just goes on and on, LOL.
I've seen a lot of items listed on LMC Trucks' website, I was just wondering what experiences you folks have had with their parts. I live just south of Kansas City, MO and LMC is located just west of KC in Lenexa, so it's only about a 45 minute drive for me to pick up any parts that I would order from them and that seems like it would save a butt load of money on shipping costs. IF their parts are of decent quality.

It's my opinion that LMC has good stuff and not-so-good stuff, like most places, but the percentage of not-so-good is larger than many other outlets for our truck parts. They seem to be very much price driven over quality, imho. Your mileage may vary. If you live close by, you'll have a better opportunity than most of us to see their stuff, first hand, before putting your money down.

in the restoration of my 66
which cost me right around $35,000
I'm thinking about $10,000 of that went to LMC
and bottom line is the only issue I had was the front new bumper really not fitting all that great!
love them, even visited their plant
and if you need
I've got a list of about 3 other places that can help out

To a degree, it depends on your needs. I bought a bunch from them and was satisfied. You'll not find everything needed but they are reasonably complete. Understand that most of their rubber products are repackaged Dennis Carpenter items so don't get too wadded up over it. You'll also need to consider Mac's, Rock Auto, Dennis Carpenter, and your local parts stores as sources.

Be aware that LMC is a middle-man operation, uses the J. Paul Getty method of making a buck.
Despite all the parts shown in their catalogs, when you place your order, in most cases...they use your money to buy the parts elsewhere, from other repro parts sellers, auto parts stores and in some cases...Ford dealers.
Who pays the shipping charges that LMC incurs buying these parts from the outside? Guess!

I just received parts for LMC and can say that their parts are as good as anyone elses, they need to be worked to fit. If you are only 45 minutes away you will save yourself cash on shipping charges. You fellows in the U.S. have a big advantage over us who live in Canada or beyond because of shipping and that darn brokerage fee and of course our vendors profit. The parts may come from Tiawan but go through the States before they get to my door.
Bottom line is no matter where you purchase your parts they are going to look good until you start putting them together, you need patience and to keep little children far enough away so they don't learn any words that need soap to wash out.

So true! I have gotten parts from all of them and very few fit perfectly and most need some TLC to work. And the instructions! Wow, written by somebody who has done it so many times that they forget that most who are using the parts are doing so for the first time. I do the same sometimes when I am teaching a new hand how to face frame or the 32 MM system or spraying aniline dye stain on maple to make it look like walnut. I leave out steps which are ingrained in me from years of doing it that I don't even think about it.
