ASWC-1 Steering Wheel Control issues

I know some of you have used these before. As usual, I have to be the one to run into some screwball crap. I installed a Kenwood DDX9702S Head Unit. I hooked every wire up correctly. I checked it at least 6 times. In auto detect mode, in the end, it just flashed red and green. I tried to manually program it and it still wouldn't work. At this point, I'm ready to take the little black box and stomp it to smithereens. Any one have any suggestions??

I had problems with mine with my Kenwood nav head unit. It wouldn't auto detect and I had to manually program it. I can't remember how exactly I did it, I will dig out my instructions and see if it jogs my memory. But it can be done, don't get out the hammer yet!
