Help me choose. 2010 V10 or 2011 6.2

I'm looking at replacing my truck. I have three currently and not sure if I'm going to replace my dump truck or my pickup. I found these two trucks I really like but I really cannot decide between them.. The first is a "cabelas" version 2010. I put that in quotes because they advertise it as that but after doing research it really doesn't seem like it is.

I should also say 90 percent of the miles are towing a wide array of trailers from light to 14.5k. Average around 9.5k

You're going to get a million opinions, but I'd recommend the 2011 truck. It's not going to have the low-end torque that the V10 does, but it has a better transmission and some chassis revisions. Seems like balljoints aren't a common failure on 2011-present trucks.

I have owned both the 3v V10 and the 6.2. I had my 08 v10 for 100k miles and the 6.2 I had for 13k miles. You could not give me a 6.2, I just hated the lack of low rpm torque. Thats my .02 for whatever it worth.

Thanks for you guys feedback. Have a lot to think about. Dual wheels, you should try 5 star tunes from what I've heard. I think the tuning on the river byvwire causes a lot of dissatisfaction

I had 5star on both the v10 and the 6.2. The v10 was still better without a tuner than the 6.2 with a tuner. I miss my v10. Easy to work on and extremely reliable.

Seems like you're comparing two totally different trucks, so much so that the difference in motors is negligible. More important than which motor is in which truck, would be to decide if you want a luxurious crew cab. Or a dump body plow truck.

Hmm.. That's kind of what I was thinking myself too. I love diesels but overall repair costs and peace of mind are making me choose gas, but man do I hate being underpowered. What do you guys think of the truck I posted? Seems over priced to me but they are also very hard to find. I tow every single day and lots of towing 10 to 11k. Not much freeway but lots of hills and merging onto roads (need torque)

Yeah I know, it just happens that those are the two trucks that have caught my eye. I would actually prefer a new crew cab at this point, but a good deal on a dump will make me replace my 7.3 dump. All things equal what's your preference

I tow 8-9k regularly with my 6.2 and have zero issues power wise but I don't mind putting my foot down and letting the sucker breath. Mines also tuned and cat deleted. Now I also tow that same load in the winter(like right now) with my '03 5.4 so obviously the 6.2 is going to seem quite powerful to me.

All things equal my preference would be the newer style(2011+) 6.2 crew cab. I enjoy the hell out of revving that motor out. It's so smooth and just loves to turn on where most motors are turning off. 4k rpm + is just ear to ear grinning for me.

My dad misses his 03' V10 which he traded in on a 15' with the 6.2l. I managed to find him a 6.2l truck with 4.30s close enough to how he wanted it. The thing he hates most (and I do too) is the interior and the lousy shift strategies. Ford put zero thought into the interior which has less room, less cup holders and is less useful overall. not to mention feels cheaper. None of us are impressed.

This was a little confusing at first but it seems you're trying to decide between two trucks that you own and which one to replace with different trucks you found to replace them.

Which of the two trucks is going to benefit you more by upgrading in the long run and what kind of shape are the old trucks in?
