I Have a 93 ford bronco 4x4 with a 351 windsor and the e4od tranny it does great on road but when we jump her in the dunes all day she shuts down like no fuel issue but its not a fuel issue its a heat issue cant figure out any suggestions on where to start
Why does the title say electrical issue if you think its a heat issue? what do you mean its a heat issue? Is it getting too hot and ceasing up? what do you mean "shuts down"? Stop driving it if it is ceasing due to heat, you're gonna blow the head gasket or break something worse.
If it is simply overheating, try flushing the cooling system with some sea foam and new water/coolant a few times. check thermostat, radiator flow, make sure your fan is blowing, fan clutch is working if you have one. if all that fails, then you might just be driving too hard for a stock radiator.
If it is an electrical issue that happens when it is hot, could be a spark advance issue, MASS air flow, EGR, ect... too many to list on a computer controlled bronco. however that also means it should be throwing a code.
But yeah, why do you say its a heat issue? more info would help.
It runs great, doesn't over heat or throw codes. But after running it hard, steep hills, offroading it starts bogging out. Once it starts acting up, won't hold idle n eventually after trying to turn over many times just won't start until it's sat for couple hours. Can drive around town great, no problems, the minute i start to play 4x4, offroad, mud, sand etc it starts acting up again. I say heat issue because its like something gets warm, sensor, just can't figure out. Already rebuilt distributor cap, new throttle position sensor, ignition coil, idle control valvle, new relays, change spark plugs, new fuel pump n fuel filter. Any suggestions???
Nicolas , when u say steep hills, I wonder if it could be your inertia switch acting up. Ford installed these in case of roll over (fire). It cuts the fuel off. Its located in the kick panel passengers side. Good luck TR
