Kerosene smell

Kerosene smell
My 97 7.3 exhaust smells like burnt kerosene. It almost burns your eyes? Any idea on what could cause this? Is it normal? I've just had the truck for 3 weeks.

Drain the fuel bowl into a jar. The tank could have been filled w kerosene or the winter fuel maybe is mixed incorrectly. Just wag

I just had the fuel bowl off to install a new fuel pump. The bottom was full of gritty junk. I mean it had alot in it. Also cleaned all the screens. I just remembered that I just added a diesel fuel treatment to this tank. Could that be the cause? It was a 40 gal treatment and I added it to to 18-20 gallons of fuel.

I would pull a fuel sample . Either way itll run on k1.

How many miles on the truck? Are the injectors the originals?

It has 164k on it. No idea if they are original ornot. Bought it off the original owner. Said they just used it to pull their camper.

That's not bad mileage. Injectors should be in pretty good shape.
