Any Dents in Macon/Warner Robins and Suspension Question.

I wonder any you guys out there have done anything with your I beam suspension? I think my front rake is due to sagging springs because when I jacked the front to replace a tire I noticed it sat higher for a couple hours before going down to its usual height.

I have a 79 but I have never done anything to the beams. Since our trucks are in the 70's I would suspect the springs will be weaker due to just the age of our trucks.

You can't do anything with the beams themselves. You can change bushings , springs, king pins, shocks. The beams themselves can't be bent or heated. Same for radius rods.

I do know where there is a junkyard that has about 5 acres of Ford trucks. See my post on" I found a honey hole" Just checked Oriley's had everything except the beams and radius rods.

I would think that just replacing with a stock spring would raise it back up and be what you are looking for.

Yes you could out of a 250 or 350. But I have agree with Chief. What engine are you going to put in it? If you go with a big block , when you get your springs get the ones for a truck with that engine. A heavy duty spring will give you a harsher ride.

I will put in a hotter blueprint 306 crate engine. 3600 for 390HP sounds like the way I want to go. I just want to raise the front end a little if I could without lifting. Do the coil springs need any type of insulators top or bottom for dampening purposes etc. ?

I would think that new springs would raise it back up and be enough for the engine upgrade, I personally dont think there would be that big different in engine weights.

Bronco graveyard as they have stock height up to 6 inch lift: $90 to $189 depending on how much lift you want. Coil Springs-Broncograveyard.com

Lower spring pad is $30 bucks each: 1976-1977 Coil Spring Lower Pad-Broncograveyard.com

I do not seen any upper spring pads, never had mine apart so I can't tell you if they have a lower.

Thanks, I am excited that leveling out the truck maybe no more then just new coil springs. The truck is 2wd so I don't really think I want to lift it. 3 inches maybe if I ran out of other stuff to do.
