Hey guys ive been having a little problem. I cant start my truck anymore by turning my key. When i turn the key it acts like it wants to work right by turning all the accessories off for a split second but nothing. It doesnt even click. I had to jump the solenoid this morning. It only does this when its freezing outside. Any advice
If it has power to it when the key is turned to start.
If it has power to it then see if it has power leaving the switch when the clutch pedal is depressed.
Um the switch should be on the pedal like on the brake pedal right? If so i dont have one.......wtf.....no wires or anything going to or from the pedal. Im at a loss but i know for a fact even when it was working ive needed to press in the clutch
I found it, thanks for the diagram. I tested it and it checks out. I was able to start it but i turned it off and tried again and it didnt work. The only way it will work after multiple attempts is if i turn the key hard and fast.....what does that mean?

Could possibly be a bad ignition lock cylinder. My buddy was having a similar issue with his 92 and when he put a new lock cylinder in the issue stopped
Okay so i know the lock cylindee is good because i can turn the key, the lock rod moves and when in the on and start position its tight so that aint broken. I can jump the start solenoid with the truck in the on position and it starts like a champ. Ganna recheck the clutch switch, if the clutch switch is for sure good then that leaves me with the ignition switch correct?
First let me say I'm having the same INTERMITTENT problem you are with my '88 f-150. Mine starts most of the time but occasionally I have to jump the solenoid. I assume yours is still intermittent, it would be easier to diagnose if it failed completely.
I haven't used my '88 much lately, got 2 other F-150s. A couple months ago, I picked up a part from the Ford garage, it must be different than what Subford referred to. Part# 1C3Z-11A152-AA. This goes inside the cab near the firewall on the rod that goes through the firewall to connect to the clutch master cylinder.
I haven't installed this part yet, so I don't know if it will fix my problem.
Lol mine just stopped completely working. I think im just ganna say screw it and put a push start button on it. I can barely turn the key now that its below freezing anyways so i dont have to wrestle for that last small turn to start it.
