After some thought I decided I would post the build updates for my
1981 F150 LB Custom. Mainly to hold my self accountable as life sometimes gets in the way. But also I may well run into some interesting stuff along the way, and the fix for those things may help others later.
A bit of background, I work at a auto and towing shop. Aside from normal wrecker calls and auto repair, we buy and crush old vehicles. A couple of months(maybe 3) ago we were sold this truck for crushing. The boss/owner being curious wanted to see if it would start and run. The original miles were really low 44k low, despite how the truck appeared. Well he had me put a fuel pump in it and it started and ran ( I drove it to the dump to unload the back), after that we parked it in the back lot where it stayed until I decided to buy it.
I really just want something to work on. It offers that, the body is straight for the most part, but there is a lot of surface rust and paint is in poor condition. It had minor running and electrical issues. leaking accelerator pump, and some rat chewed threw wiring. This last weekend I fixed all the wiring so no more electrical issues. And that's where I will begin on this build.
Sorry I know long and boring intro.
(I have no clue why those are sideways, but it can be fun to tilt your head I'm told)
It has a 351M. Not sure about the trans? Not sure about which carb rebuild kit I need either.. It is a dealer bumper, the dealership closed a few years ago. If all goes well, I should figure out what kit I need and rebuild the carb by the weekend. Also any advice for adding pictures that are not turned sideways? I tried again and they are turned. Rotating the picture and saving them then uploading doesn't seem to help at all.
They are from a iPhone. It didn't have a tag in it. The place I called yesterday gave me five options then told me their warehouse didn't have any of them.
Well The carburetor is out and ready for the rebuild kit. I hate waiting. Also thanks to help I think I have my pictures fixed.
and for added fun I'll be rebuilding the carb on my Honda bobber
