The 2150 is a simple carb to rebuild. Just make sure you have the check ball and weight for the accelerator pump in correctly. And don't use any cleaning fluid around the little "umbrella" flapper as it falls apart rather easily.
Yea there really isn't much to it. I'll probably just use brake clean and a brush on the outside to pretty it up. I'm waiting for a belt that together with the rebuilt carb should have it running nice.
Well I installed the rebuilt carburetor, and new belts. The truck starts up beautiful. The problem is after a bit of running the idle goes up and stays even rising a bit. I did find with the engine running that the A/C blows cold it just needs a bit of a recharge
I'm pretty sure my choke, isn't attached correctly. I'm looking for a picture of it done correctly, but not having luck.
I'm very curious what this is?
The short belt isn't correct one.
Still figuring out some vac lines that are laying around.
I'm amazed at how much I have to learn about this older stuff. The tangle of vac lines everywhere drive me crazy I'd like to end up with way way less of them.
Just part of the rats nest I'd like to clean up and make more organized.
The thing in the 2nd pic is a thermal vent. It opens at a given temp.
As for increasing idle speed, I think you have a vacuum leak and as the engine gets warm it needs less fuel so the mix gets more and more "right" so the RPM increases. Another issue might be where you have the vacuum advance connected. It should be to a vacuum port that doesn't have vacuum at idle.
What I think I'll do is go into work tomorrow. We have a ranger there we just put a carburetor on. I can check over it and see what all needs to be where on my truck. I'd honestly like to be done with this part and moving on to the fun part making it look better. The truck starts with the flick of a key now that's how I like them to run.
Well it was a case of mixed up vac lines. It's strait now but really the vacuum mess is to much. So I will be getting rid of all the extra crap capping what I need and keeping only the above listed vac lines. A long those lines, has anyone trimmed down there vac system to just the basic needed lines? and if so any pictures?
